The Less Means More Water Conservation Task Force is gearing up for Earth Day 2011. This Craven County water conservation initiative has been active since since 2005. On April 11-13, we'll host 5th graders from the Craven County Schools at Union Point Park where 5 educational stations will teach students aboout water systems, water conservation tips for inside, water conservation tips for outside, water quality, and composting. We're proud to partner with others as we work to create a culture of conservation in Craven County. On April 15, we'll recognize the businesses and organizations who practice conservation. Visit http://www.water-lessmeansmore.com/ for a nomination form. Let's get serious about conservation and help plan for a better future.
Don't miss the Rothermel presentation at 2 pm at the First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, April 3 entitled Africa, Beyond the Stereotypes. We'll hear a dynamic program from panelists Jon Sawyer, Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting, Dr Jim Thomas of Africa Rising at the UNC Dept of Public Health, Dr Georges Nzongola-Ntalaja, African Government Institute, UNC African Studies Center, and John Beck of World Concern. All you thought you knew about Africa might not be true. Come out and learn more about this amazing country and it's people.
